the pedestrian project

This was a project that took place over a single semester. The project brief asked that we find a problem within our community to solve. As a student and someone who often travels by foot, I chose to investigate the issues of pedestrian safety within the city of Milwaukee. Throughout the 15 weeks of the semester, I conducted research, spoke to people in the community, and designed a brand that helped to solve the problem. Deliverables for this project included complete research, brand guidelines, personas, an infographic, a video, and participation in a pitch competition.

The Pedestrian Project is an incentive that will encourage safer roads. In order to prioritize pedestrians, it is important to rethink and redesign our roads in a way that will allow for more walkable and healthier cities. The Pedestrian Project aims to educate, bring awareness, and motivate communities to rethink movement.

  • inspiration:

As a person who both drives and walks around Milwaukee, I quickly recognized the reckless driving and how some crosswalks aren’t as safe as they could be.

  • for next time:

For this class project, I would have liked to host a workshop. Being able to hold a workshop or information session could have allowed me to gain more feedback from the community.
